I have been ignoring this blog. So pathetic!! Just barely begun and ignoring it. My apologies...hehehe--even though I am the only one who reads it!! :)
I have been trying to practice up on FMQ....I am bound and determined to actually quilt my own quilts on my home machine!!! I am taking Leah Day's Free Motion class at Craftsy....so encouraging!! I think I am getting it...now just to practice, practice, practice!
I have been practicing on some fat quarters that I had left over after a project. I am hoping to get enough practice in and feel confident enough to actually do some stippling on a scrap quilt that has been hanging around for quite some time now.
Anyone else in the same boat? I just have a Janome 6500P.....it has a large throat (HUGE compared to my old machine!!) but I am giving it a whirl and having fun.

Hi Michelle
ReplyDeleteThe only thing I've ever FMQ'd was a disastrous object which is being used as a Cat blanket! I really must have a go. Yours looks good - well done!
Hi there!! Oh, you should totally try it again!! I messed with it quite a few times, but then ended up listening to Leah Day's advice from the Craftsy class (particularly the questions and answers!!) and did a bunch of reading...then I found out that my machine has a special bobbin case that helps with bobbin tension especially for FMQ....it worked magic!! I still have a long way to go, but I am having a blast!!! :) I am trying to decide if my practice pieces will end up in the dog bed or if I will take the better ones and piece them together in the quilt as you go method to make a car quilt or something. Hehehehe waste not, want not!!! Your cat is lucky, I am sure!!!
